Movies
Movies in the 1920's were big, and had an explosion later on. Movies grew as it got more popular, which means instead of having really big theaters in various locations in the states, the cities decided to eventually break them down and create smaller theaters so there would be more business, and less travel distance for their costumers. This action allowed access from many points of the U.S. and therefore movies grew huge.
Films started with having silence. This may seem weird to those who live in the 21st century, but movies used to actually contain little to no sound what-so-ever. If there was sound, it would most-likely be music as a background noise so the audience wouldn't get bored. This is a great question when people ask how people could create entertainment without any sound. The answer to this is rather simple; Comedy. Most film had comedy as a part of them because it was easy. People have had the ability to create laughter since the stone age, literally. It is natural in human nature to be entertained and to have fun. People simply create and image on a screen that others find appealing, and that's exactly what they did. This is partially where the "mime" basically came from.

Newspapers and Magazines
Newspapers were very necessary for people in the 1920's because people wanted to know what was going on. Just like today, how most adults watch the news. Newspapers were easy because everything that was going on was right in front of your face, and all you had to do was turn the page. This is the very reason why almost every American bought the newspaper, and most Americans bought magazines as well.
Newspapers could be sold at home accessory stores, the post office, or even a general market. You could also find one in something which is very similar to vending machines, and these could be found outside of local restaurants, or buildings in the center of the cities.

Jazz Arrives
Jazz was a big thing in the 1920's. Unlike radio, Jazz could be basically anywhere because you could transport instruments from place to place. Jazz was such a hit in this time period that even those today have Jazz in their lives. In fact, most high schools have some type of separate course you can take where you can practice Jazz band. This is a skill that many don't have, which is why this area can create many job opportunities for those in the 1920's.
Although Jazz now days seems like it is mostly played from instruments, it can also be shown as media in the form of dancing. Back in the 1920's, many people would visit clubs and various places to go dancing and show others how skilled they can be. A familiar show that Americans watch today that could relate to this, is Dancing with the Stars.

Jazz Clubs and Dance Halls
Jazz Clubs were the turn of the century! This was the reason why most people say that the 1920's was party, party, and more party. Jazz clubs allowed people from many areas of the city to go and spend time night dancing and having a blast! This was a great place to practice routines and create a competition for many couples to battle it out with their feet.
Even today, we have such things like clubs and ballroom dancing. This provides opportunity for fun. Many of those from the 1920's would create a move set and perform it. If this routine got popular enough, the couple might even perform in front of others, maybe in a local talent show or in a theater type of scenario.

Painting
Paintings made it clear to see from different perspectives back in this time period. They also showed major talent and opened up tons of opportunities for people who have skill with their art. Sinclair Lewis was the first nobel prize winner for literature. All though painting was a huge deal, a lot of paintings had to do with Jazz, or Jazz spirit. Jazz spirit could also be shown through literature. Paintings were pretty common, so even a trip to the local market might have some exposure to this art.
